"SIAPA YANG NGODING
TANPA AI SAMA SEKALI?"
5 years ago, the opposite question made sense. Today, not using AI is the weird thing.

from the late-2022 peak. Seniors nearly flat.
DON'T RUSH TO
BLAME AI
Yale Budget Lab (Oct 2025): 33 months after ChatGPT, AI's effect on jobs is "near zero — statistically indistinguishable from zero." NY Fed & Goldman haven't found a clear AI footprint either.
AI JUST ADDS SPEED — IT'S NOT THE ROOT CAUSE.
BUT FOR US WHO CODE, THE ENDING IS THE SAME:
THERE'S A CHEAPER OPTION NOW.
AI HANDLES
THE CODE.
NEW ENG HANDLE
THE PRODUCT.
I joined as a Flutter Engineer to rebuild app v2.0 from scratch to launch. What got me promoted wasn't the code — it was owning the data, ideation, user research, and roadmap.

"PRODUCT THINKER" IS NOT A TECHNICAL DOWNGRADE
TO KEEP IT CONCRETE — HERE'S WHAT I ACTUALLY DO EVERY DAY.
DATA
USERS
SOLUTION
SPEC
& SHIP
START FROM THE PROBLEM, NOT THE CODE. AI SPEEDS UP THE DOING.
RESEARCH THE DATA
WITH AI
Problem: wanted to know which Premium FYP slot lands — single card vs carousel.
help me set up a Mixpanel dashboard for this A/B test
AI scanned the codebase & found the event tracking itself. I decide which metrics matter & what the conclusion is.
RECAP INTERVIEWS
WITH AI
After a user interview, notes are scattered & long — it's easy to skip the key insight.
recap this user interview, and advise the next step
AI filters & summarizes. I decide which insight becomes a feature.
RAW NOTES →
PRODUCT BRIEF
My research is still raw & messy — hard for product/design to read, especially non-technical folks.
rewrite this research doc into a delivery-ready doc for the product team — best practice
AI polishes the writing. I own the content & decisions — communication = a product engineer's core job.
VENDOR ANALYSIS
+ WRITE PRD
Problem: building a TTS feature (Lyre) — many vendors, must pick the best fit on quality & cost.
you're a product expert — create a PRD for TTS, Tech in Asia Lyre
AI gathers options (WaveNet · ElevenLabs · Kokoro) & weighs trade-offs. I make the final call & own it.
EXPLORE UI
DIRECTIONS WITH AI
Problem: a section feels flat & generic — I want a premium redesign direction fast, before involving design.
redesign this "Companies" section — premium fintech / VC aesthetic
AI generates visual directions in seconds. I judge what fits the brand & user — then steer it to ship.
PLAN FIRST →
AI SHIPS THE CODE
Problem: add horizontal scroll for premium content in the FYP home — needs a real plan, not vibes.
you're a product & ux expert. /plan this feature — handle the best practice
AI explores the codebase, plans, then builds it (cooked in 13m). I steer the UX & product decisions.
FLUTTER =
LEVERAGE FOR
PRODUCT ENGINEERS
AI speeds up coding + 1 codebase multi-platform = the loop prototype → test on users → improve gets really short.

3 CONCRETE
THINGS TO
START
TOMORROW
84% of devs use AI, but only 3% "highly trust" the output. The expensive skill = knowing what's wrong/nonsense/unsafe. Don't skip the fundamentals.
For every feature ask: "for whom? what problem? how do we measure success?" — the muscle used in the loop above. Industry demand is shifting toward more experienced, AI-capable profiles.
For every AI answer, ask "why?" until you get it — it's the industry's #1 move too: orgs are 3.5× more likely to upskill than hire (Linux Foundation 2026). Level up your skill, don't outsource your brain.
The old question: "if AI can code, what am I for?" → The right question:
"IF AI ALREADY HELPS WITH CODING, WHAT DO I WANT TO BUILD?"
CODE TO BUILD
THINGS PEOPLE USE.
FLUTTER = THE TOOL
AI = THE ACCELERATOR
MINDSET = THE DECIDER
What makes you valuable in the AI age isn't how fast you type — it's how deeply you understand the problem. For product thinkers, this is the best moment to jump in.
LET'S BUILD
SOMETHING.
